Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting extra-inning matchup where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million spectators across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB announced this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete American average reached over 16 million. The overall World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 various tongues.
