An individual who laced candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two boys aged between nine and ten.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight children and one adult fell ill at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She explained the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.

The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, justifiably.

"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

The prosecutor stated objects including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his suspicions.

She explained the man proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she added.

The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.

The prosecutor explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member notified the authorities again.

She stated the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
