19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an better serving game.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet defended four initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
